When the platform shifts
Achieving standing as a CEO, or as a divisional or function head in a large firm is a terrific achievement.
From an outsider’s perspective, the path to this point might look straightforward, but for those in such appointments a great deal has usually been invested into bringing this period of leadership about.
To get to where they stand successful senior executives have acquired broad and deep knowledge and experience across multiple disciplines, and usually developed broad competencies in such areas as strategic insight, and influencing skills. Each has usually also built deep and strong relationships within and beyond the organisation, and have had the support of thoughtful mentors or advocates along the way.
